About The Great Lakes Swing Dance Club

In 1991 Wayne Persall took a trip to Florida, and returned with the idea of starting a dance club in Genesee County. At that time a loosely-knit group of folks danced at a variety of locations around Flint. After taking some time to work out the details, the club was formed in June 1991. The founding members of the Great Lakes Swing Dance Club included Wayne Pearsall, Arnie James, Carol Fournier, Colette Simerson, Stuart Rogers, Marlene Sandy, and Done Campbell. Since that time the club has grown to nearly 400 members.

Over the years, the GLSDC has called a number of locations home, including, Bugsy's, the Russellville Ballroom, the VFW Hall on Corunna Road, and since February 2006, our present location at Rollhaven of Flushing.
